This is a game by national geographic for kids where the player needs to pick up the trash hat fall from the sky and throw into the recycle bins. There are three recycle bins in different color such as recycled bin in blue, compost bin in green and trash bin in red. All items will be categorized into few categories such as recyclable items, compost able items, both recyclable and compost able items and trashed items.

This game is from Fun Zone recycle for Lincolnshire. This game is mainly to drop trash into proper recycle machine. The player will have to aim and drop correct trash into the machines.

This is a game features a boy, Michael. The player needs to help Michael to pick up all litters in the park and stop litterbugs before the time runs out. There will be few types of recycle bins and the player will have to identify what can be thrown into the bins. Even though the player does not need to worry about separating trash, but finding them and look for the bins will consume a lot of time.

Type of games for kids
Nowadays, kids from the group of age 10 to 12 have already expose to realistic style of games. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is a rating system for games in the industry. There are a lot of functions for the game ratings including suggesting appropriateness for the game in the market. From the research, there is one category for game that suitable for everyone that age 10 and older which is E10+. Most of the games in this category contain more on cartoon and fantasy types of games. These are the few examples of the games that are appropriate for age 10 and above.

Final Proposal

Title
The 3R bot (Game)

Abstract
This is a puzzle adventure game feature the 3R program which is Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse. This game also serves as awareness for younger generation and practices this program daily.

The robot ends up in a recycle center with a few other robots. The robot try to remember what have happened before it ended up in the center. The robot fell into a pile of rubbish and the rubbish truck send it to the recycle center. So, the main character is a robot that ends up in the center. The robot will have to solve puzzles and complete missions that involve 3R program in order to get out from the center.

Target Audience
Upper primary school kids (Age 10 to 12)

Goal
  1. The goal of this application is to set an example of 3R program and implement it for younger generation. Nowadays, kids will need to be aware of 3R program and set it as their responsibility. Not only it benefits the younger generation, adults can also use this as an example to educate their kids.
  2. There is research about the study of national waste minimization in Malaysia and it proves that not many people are aware about recycle. There are a few other problems such as increase of solid waste in Malaysia and instable practice of recycling activities. So, the strategy for this application is to enhance of awareness on 3R program through younger generation. Thus, this VR application is created to introduce 3R program for younger kids. Kids enjoy graphics and games and it is always an advantage to use interactivity to attract kid’s attention and help them to understand better about it. VR have an advantage in terms of fun learning.
  3. This virtual application would allow the user to understand the basic idea of waste management. It is also help to generate awareness as the user plays a long with the game. Fun learning using VR application serves as a major attraction for kids to play and learn from it. VR is certainly an advantage in generating various experiences for the user.
  4. There are multiple learning applications out in the market. Most of them consist of quizzes. However, the problem still remains as there are not many people aware of 3R program. This VR application is special due to the creativity that is applied to the game. It gives challenge to the user to solve puzzles and have fun for indirect learning process. This game is created not only for entertainment purpose but also as a learning tool for kids.

  • To set an awareness for younger generation about 3R program
  • To allow the user to enjoy the fun learning VR game application
  • To serve as a different approach of learning system
  • To give an idea to the younger kids that they play an important role in the 3R program and they should implement it daily.

Gameplay Reference

Description
On the starting of the game application, there will be a brief introduction of the storyline. The user will start in a sector full of rubbish and tutorials will be given to the user. For example, the user will be prompted by pop up icons indicate on walking, jumping and interact with the objects. More tips will be shown as the user proceeds with the game. The user will be taught how to use his ability before he proceeds to next level. The player will be awarded after he/she completes the game. There will be several achievements to be unlocked during the game.

Entering the 1st Level
This is the level where all the trash is sorted and recycles to a new product. The place will have a lot of machines that handles the production process. The player will be notified about the destination he/she needs to go. Open reaching to the destination, there will be a stationary robot and it will instruct the robot to remove the item that jams the machine. After the machine is fixed, the robot will proceed to its station with their work and the player will be able to get out from the room. There will be a cut scene triggered before the player enters to 2nd level.

Entering the 2nd Level
This is the level where all the trash is collected but not sorted into categories. There will be a officer waiting at the starting point. The officer will instruct the robot to clear the pile of trash before it proceeds to another level. In this level, the player will be focus on sorting all the trash into categories. The user will learn how to differentiate types of trash and put them into their categories before it is recycled. There will be some other robots that need help in sorting the trash and the player will have to help them in order to clear the level.

Entering the 3rd Level
This is the level where all the trash is collected. The player will see mountains of trash pile everywhere and the exit is blocked. In this level, the player will have to separate all the trash in the compound. Every robot will have a pile of trash to be cleared. In the compound itself, there will be an exit by the pipes and the player needs the help of the other robots to escape. In order to do so, the player needs to help all the robots in clearing their rubbish and they will help the player to escape. Basically, this is another practice round for the player. The game ends when the players successfully escape from the center.



Interaction Description
  • User will be able to navigate the world through WASD Keys on the keyboard
  • User will be able to know their present location with the mini map in the game
  • User will easily notice intractable objects as it will glow when the user gets near to it
  • User will be able to unlock achievements that present in the game
  • User will be able to collect hidden items throughout the game. Most of the items serve as accessories for the robot

Level Description - Refine

Description
On the starting of the game application, there will be a brief introduction of the storyline. The user will start in a sector full of rubbish and tutorials will be given to the user. For example, the user will be prompted by pop up icons indicate on walking, jumping and interact with the objects. More tips will be shown as the user proceeds with the game. The user will be taught how to use his ability before he proceeds to next level. The player will be awarded after he/she completes the game. There will be several achievements to be unlocked during the game.

Entering the 1st Level
This is a very straight forward level.
The player will be notified about the destination he/she needs to go. Open reaching to the destination, there will be a stationary robot and it will introduce the first part of the 3R program. The officer will teach general facts about 3R and also how to identify the types of material such as aluminium, plastic, paper and glass. It will instruct the player to find specific trash that scatter out in the level. After the player collects all the items, he/she will be instruct again to separate the trash and put them accordingly into each recycle bin. In this level, the player will learn how to identify all 3 types of recycle bin. There will be a cut scene triggered before the player enters to 2nd level.

Entering the 2nd Level
This is a level where you need to work together with other robots.
There will be an officer waiting at the starting point. The officer will ask you to always practice recycle and reduce the amount of trash disposal in the world. The officer will instruct the robot to clear the pile of trash before it proceeds to another level. In this level, the player will be focus on slightly difficult puzzles. The items that the player needs to find will be harder. It may be blocked by objects and the player must think of a way to clear the blocked objects to obtain the items he/she needs to proceed to the next level. There will be some other robots that provide help if only you help them first. The player will have to find and collect items. After that the player has to give away items that he/she collects to other robots according to their needs and they will provide help in return.

Entering the 3rd Level
This is a level focus more complex interactions.
Basically, this is another practice round for the player. However, this will be the hardest level of all. Player will have to solve puzzles in a different way. It needs to collect items and pass them to another robot to create another item that you need. In addition, the player needs to figure out what to use with the items that they get from the robots. Then the player has to reuse the items to get through the level. There would be a combination of puzzles that is available in other levels to make this level harder. In this level, the player will learn how to improve the way for recycling. For example, remove the caps and lids from plastic containers, crush metal cans, remove paper clips and staples from paper and more.

Proposal No.4 - refine

Title
The 3R bot (Game)

Abstract
This is a puzzle adventure game set back in the future world. The application focus on the 3R program which is Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse. This game also serves as awareness for younger generation and practices this program daily.

The robot ends up in a cell with a few other robots. The robot try to remember what have happened before it ended up in the cell. It remember that it throw a can drink to the floor as it always do. However, this time it ended up getting itself caught by the police. The world technology is advance but the city is filled with trash. The president decided to clean up the city. The city is used to be clean and trash free. Whoever litters around will be sent to a recycle center.

So, the main character is a robot that ends up in the cell. The center will educate the robot about 3R program and they need to clear their black record through civil service. The robot will have to solve puzzles and complete missions that involve 3R program in order to clear its record.

Age 8 to 12

      • Students do not need to fully understand what 3R is. All they need is to enjoy what they do and they will learn the meaning as they grow older.

      • Primary School students will only learn basics of 3R program. For example, separating trash and put them into the recycle bins respectively.

      • Let the kids challenge among themselves and this will keep them focus to 3R main objective.

      The world technology is advance as human found their way up to the sky leaving the city beneath abandoned. Robots serve human as workers and outdated robot will be categorize as rubbish. All rubbish will be transported to another planet. Most of the outdated robots will be sent over for recycle or stuck at the planet forever.

      So, the main character is a robot that sent to the planet as outdated robot. The robot will have to solve puzzles and complete missions that involve 3R program in order to travel back to the city.

      Age 8 to 15

      This is a level where you need to help others and they will help you.

      Proposal No.3

      Title
      Romanesque Architecture (Virtual Heritage)

      Abstract
      The application is a walkthrough of one or more selected building influenced by Romanesque Architecture. The amount of building depends on the complexity of once architecture.

      Target Audience
      Age 15 to 25

      Goal

      1. The goal of the application is to allow the user to appreciate the Romanesque architecture. The application would try to simulate the world settings back in the era as accurate as possible.
      2. This application is focus more on visualization that we could never experience in this century. Since the application is set back in a town back in middle age, it is best to show it through VR technology. It would allow the user to visualize the whole environment back then as it will be created to cope with the time period.
      3. This virtual application would allow the user to explore each building that influenced by Romanesque architecture.
      4. There are a few types of walkthrough exist in the market. However, this walkthrough application is special due to the real time visualization approach that it offers. It could give the user an extraordinary experience because it is created not only for experiential purpose but also to appreciate the Romanesque architecture.

      On the starting of the walkthrough application, user will be given brief introduction about navigation. The user will start in a room and tutorials will be given. For example, the user will be prompted by pop up icons indicate on walking, jumping and interact with intractable objects. The user will be guided to proceed with the application through a door.

      Entering the 1st Level-
      The user is free to roam around the building area and experience the wonders of Romanesque architecture. The user could exit the application by pressing an escape button. There will be a pop out window that allows the user to exit the application.

      The Titan’s Machine (Game)

      Abstract
      This is a single player shooter game set in futuristic medieval. The myth once says the titan build three machines to guard and rule the world before they depart from the world. The machines took all the resources from the world and leave the humans to suffer. Now, the world resources have been depleted and humans must take back from the titan’s machines.

      Target Audience
      Age 18 - 25

      Goal
      1. The main goal of this application is to entertain the target audience in a form of shooter game. The goal of the game is to defeat the machines build by the titan and save the world. One must test his marksman skill in order to save the world.
      2. This application is focusing more on visualization. The style of this game is a fantasy world that resides in futuristic medieval. The visualization of the game is to show it through a VR application. It would allow the user to experience the innovative level design as well as the gameplay.
      3. This virtual application would allow the user to explore the fantasy environment. In addition, the user will able to experience how tiny he/she is when fighting with the machine. VR is certainly an advantage in generating various experiences for the user.
      4. There are multiple games with gameplay similar to this VR application. However, this VR application is special due to the creativity that is applied to the game. Thus, it could give the user an extraordinary experience of this VR application. This game is created not only for entertainment purpose but also to appreciate the work of a game developer.

      Title
      The Bastardo (Game)

      Abstract
      This is a single player action adventure game set back in the medieval age. The King is possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit wants to conquer the world but to do so he will need the evil that resides in each human heart and control them under his command. The main character in the game is the son of the king. However, he is not a prince but rather a bastard. This is because he is not the queen’s son. He lives at outskirt area to hide his identity.       1. The main goal of this application is to entertain the target audience in a form of action-adventure game. The goal of the game is to defeat the evil spirit and save the world. However, he cannot kill his father, the king. To achieve this, he will need to search for the holy sword.
      2. This application is focusing more on visualization. The setting of this game is a fantasy world that resides in medieval age. The visualization of the game is best shown through a VR application. It would allow the user to experience the game elements as well as the beauty of the game. Besides, the game engine is originally a shooter platform. The mechanics of the game will be a challenge as it divert from a shooter platform to a melee combat platform.
      3. This virtual application would allow the user to explore the fantasy environment. In addition, the places in the game might exist in the past or it is a creative visualization that makes the world unique. VR is certainly an advantage in generating various experiences for the user.
      4. There are multiple games with gameplay similar to this VR application. However, this VR application is special due to the creativity that is applied to the game.       Description
      On the starting of the game application, there will be a brief introduction of the storyline. The user will start in a room and tutorials will be given to the user. For example, the user will be prompted by pop up icons indicate on walking, jumping and interact with the door. More tips will be shown as the user proceeds with the game. The user will be taught how to use his ability before he exit the building through a door.

      Entering the 1st Level-
      The player will be notified about the path that has to be gone thru using a fly by camera. In this level, there will be an open area. Waypoints are set for the player to reach the destination which the end of this area. Actions such as walk, run, and attack will need to be performed. The user will encounter low level enemy and the user will learn about the combat system. There will be a cut scene triggered before the player enters to 2nd level.

      Entering the 2nd Level-
      In this level, the player will be in a dungeon. This level will more to fighting and obtains the holy sword at the end of this level. After the player obtains the treasure, the exit pathway will appear as well. This level will have more enemy.

      Entering the 3rd Level-
      The player will reach to the castle where the main boss is. The player will have to fight his way to the main boss at the king’s chamber. There will be even more monster and minor boss before reaching to the main boss. The story ends after the main character defeats the evil spirit and saves the world.

      • User will be able to navigate the world through WASD Keys on the keyboard
      • User will be able to know their present location with the mini map in the game
      • User will easily notice intractable objects as it will glow when the user gets near to it
      • User will be able to unlock achievements that present in the game
